Find my friends custom location

To share one's location or receive the location of another user, both parties must have the Find My Friends application [4] installed on their devices. If the device is using iOS 9 software or a newer version, the application is automatically installed on Apple devices [4]. If the device uses an iOS 8 or earlier version of software, the application can be installed for free in the App Store [4]. A user can elect to share their location via the Find My Friends application, the Contacts application, or in the info tab of an iMessage conversation. There are three options for how long the location will be shared: one hour, until end of the day, or indefinitely.

Find friends and share your location with Find My

Chat with a Tech Pro or call us at Enable Location Services to easily locate friends and family members. Share your location with others, let them share back, and find missing devices. If you want friends and family to know where you are, turn on Share My location on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. If they share their location back, you can see where they are too.

The Cupertino based smartphone giant brought in a bunch of changes in the Apple stock apps by revamping the Reminders app , Notes app and the Maps app. And while the world is going GaGa over these apps another one of a stock app that got a remarkable update was the integration of Find My iPhone and Find My Friends apps into one Find My app.

Now, instead of two separate apps, they're combined into one convenient package. But what does that mean for you and your privacy and security? Overall, Apple has greatly improved iOS privacy and security in its latest mobile operating system. There are granular location data controls for apps, notifications when apps are using your location in the background, an option to remove geotags from photos you share, and a new way to sign in with apps and websites. And those are just a few of the latest enhancements, alongside the new " Find My " app.

How to share your location (without broadcasting it to the world)

Although there are legitimate concerns about sharing your location willy-nilly, Find My Friends gives everyone full control over what they share, making it truly helpful for families and close friends. In their conversation, tap the i button, tap Share My Location, and in the popover that appears, tap Share Indefinitely. Share for One Hour and Share Until End of Day are useful for temporarily sharing your location while traveling, say, to visit colleagues with whom permanent sharing would be inappropriate. However you initiate the sharing, the other person receives a notification and can accept and choose to share their location as well. That said, unidirectional sharing is all right, though in families and particularly for children, bidirectional sharing can be more helpful. Should you ever wish to stop sharing your location with someone, you can either swipe left on their entry in Find My Friends and tap the red Trash button, or go into their conversation details in Messages and tap Stop Sharing My Location. That may be all you need if, for example, your goal is to see where your spouse is on their bike ride so you can figure out when to start dinner. But Find My Friends has other features that make it even more useful. To access these features, tap a friend in the list or on the map to focus on them. Obviously, you want to share locations only with people you trust, and who trust you.

How to Use Siri to Find Your Friends

Using Siri to find friends is easy once you have the right apps on your iPhone 4S. The app requires both the iOS 5 upgrade and an iCloud account to work, but both are free, at least. The first step is to download the app from the iTunes App Store. You now see your friend represented by a colored orb on your Find My Friends map.

No eBook available Amazon. Using books are designed to offer a solid and accessible introduction-both tutorial and reference-to a topic.

Do you enjoy stalking your friends and family via Apple's Find My Friends app? If you're a regular user of the "Notify Me" feature, which allows you to receive push alerts when a friend arrives or leaves a location of your choosing, you now have more flexibility to decide on the geographic area you wish to be notified about. In other words, you can now set custom-sized geofences for your most stalkable friends.

How To Label Locations in Find My Friends

In iOS 13 or later, you can use the Find My app to share your location with friends and family members. You can also share locations on iCloud. You can also choose Add Custom Label to create your own name for your location.

When iOS 13 comes out — possibly as soon as this coming week — you might notice a couple of blank spaces on your iPhone or iPad's home screen. That's because Apple has taken two of its apps, Find My iPhone and Find My Friends, and collapsed them into a single app, with the somewhat sensible but also slightly unwieldy name Find My. Fear not, though: pretty much all of the functionality from those apps has made it into their replacement. Find My mainly serves as a chance for Apple to redesign those apps, bringing all their location-related finding services under one roof, whether you use Find My to track an iPhone or locate your friends. Here's a quick overview of what's included in the Find My app based on the iOS 13 public beta and how to get the most out of it. There are two primary facets to the Find My app, and helpfully each gets their own icon in the toolbar at the bottom of the app: People and Devices.

All about Find My Friends

If you use Find My Friends regularly, you can check up on people and where they are. Most people go to a few locations regularly, and you can interact with those specific locations through Find My Friends. Here's how: While someone is at a specific location, you can choose a label for that location. Tap on the person's name in your Find My Friends list, and while viewing the map, tap on "More". Add labels to friend's locations to set notification alerts. Under "More", tap "Choose Label" and choose from your existing labels or create something new. Add labels to locations by tapping More.

Jun 7, - Work with Locations. Once you have someone in the Find My Friends app, you'll see their entry in the list and their location on the map. That.

Using a range of technology including 4G radio antennas and GPS, your iPhone nearly always knows where you are. You can find out which restaurant or pub your friends have decided on, say, or see how far from home your partner is so you know when to start cooking. Where privacy is concerned, you can control who sees your location and when.
