Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall. The kitchen gets a little tight around the holidays. But now a half dozen of your well-meaning relatives are crowded around the stove offering their unsolicited opinions on when the turkey is done. Another three hover over the island debating if the mashed potatoes are too lumpy.

Too many cooks in the kitchen! All their well-intended criticism sounds more like condemnation. First of all, in your own life you have to be careful who you let into the kitchen. You do need people around you who can help and keep you accountable but be intentional about how big this circle is and who gets into it.

There is wisdom in good counsel, but if the counselors get too many it leads to inactivity. Listen to those who know you and our calling well enough to speak into your life. Love the rest, but limit how much you take their advice to heart. An architect might be good friends with a florist but it would be foolish to let the florist tell him how to design a house. Prayerfully consider those you let into your inner circle.

In the end, you alone are responsible before God for the calling He has given you. See those that will help and not hinder you. Second, as Romans suggests, we must be careful not to condemn others. We can be those relatives in the kitchen. We might mean well in telling people how to do things but we can become unhelpful critics from the sidelines. Yes sin must be called out and we have a responsibility to disciple other believers but we must do this prayerfully so we help them pursue God instead of becoming an obstacle in the way.

As Paul writes we must decide to live in a way that will not cause others to stumble. This is a principle of love. Pray today for wisdom to know how to lovingly come alongside one another and may the Holy Spirit keep us from getting in the way.

I've been in a discipleship group for over a year now. This discipleship group transformed all of us into more mature and dedicated Christ followers - which is awesome. One exciting outcome is one of the girls from my group leads a youth group and took the initiative, during this stay-at-home order, to continue to disciple them using the Bible app and video chatting with them.

I'm so proud of her for not only growing with God herself, but also taking the initiative to live out what it means to be a real disciple of Jesus. It's because of our discipleship group that she felt equipped to be a disciple-maker herself! I was born into a Christian family but I did not take religion or the Bible seriously. I chose not to be deeply involved in the church or with God. I would worry about my future, the details of my life and have a really hard time forgiving others.

When I carried an unforgiving spirit, my grudges caused me great pain in my heart. I now have a relationship with God that has enabled me to be happier. I know that God is interested in my life—I am no longer worried because I know I can trust Him to be in charge of all the details. The Word of God has taught me to forgive others whenever there is a conflict.

When I practice forgiveness I feel joy in my heart—a joy that overcomes any other pain. Now that I am born again I know that I am a true child of God. I was baptized because it reminds me that my true home is in heaven. I never thought I would run into a close friend of mine that I used to use drugs with during my time of addiction at a prayer service. To find out that she got clean the same time I did, and prayed for me just like I prayed for her—that she goes to the same church too, was a dream come true.

Knowing that the power of Jesus was working within us everyday was amazing to see. I left there with nothing weighing me down and tears in my eyes. He has answered my prayer this whole time. He is a miracle worker! He took two women addicted to crack cocaine, turned their lives around completely, has them off drugs and sober for eight months and reunites them at the same church during a prayer night.

What a miracle! God is great. Before surrendering to Christ I was involved in abusive relationships which eventually lead me down a path of an addition to crack cocaine, homelessness and selling drugs to people and ruining their lives. I also lost my children to the state as well as not having relationship with God or my family members.

I was raised in this church since I was a child, but I really came to the point of trusting Christ when I saw God working through friends and family members for me to get help. I had a dream one night telling me to give it all to God or I was going to die.

The next day I went to rehab to get help. Since surrendering my life to Christ, my life has been different. I have a relationship with my mom and my family members. I have been sober for days with no desire to use. I let God make decisions for me. I decided to be baptized to be closer to God and to follow Him. He has given me a passion to get women off the streets and off drugs. Five of us ladies rode together from KCC, we all gelled instantly and shared our walk with the Lord and what He is doing in our lives.

Families were drawn inside the church for the activities with the staff of a partner organization across the street pointing them our way, as well as being invited in after receiving free ice cream on the front steps of the church. I set up a table to play games with the children of the community, while others painted nails, gave facials, haircuts and hair care tips, hung out and had great conversations with kids and parents.

Participants were very interested in the church and a number of invitations were extended! I was so blessed by this experience, more than I can put into words. I would go again in a heartbeat!! The difference is that here at Kentwood Community Church, we already have a strong presence in the area including partnerships with schools in both Kentwood and Wyoming and other community organizations like One Wyoming, 70x7 Life Recovery and Love INC, South Kent County, which is currently in development.

Pastor Mick hopes to build on that foundation and expand it even further. His call began as a teen when he first attended a church youth event, primarily to meet girls, but ended up meeting Jesus. They recruited four families to join them, but their effort failed when illnesses and other circumstances occurred that were out of their control. Although those original families had to go home, other families were recruited and by the time Mick and his family felt released from the work in that area, they had done an incredible job building relationships with the people there, planting 12 house churches and seeing people accept Christ as their Savior.

Of course, that means he too could be sent out which is what has happened with the call to serve here at Kentwood Community Church. Like his church in Detroit, KCC is a multi-ethic church whose vision also includes equipping, multiplying and building a network of other multi-ethnic churches that together, can do more than any could do alone.

I rode my bike every Wednesday and Sunday to attend church. I accepted Jesus in my heart at the young age of 12 after a friend of the family invited me to join them at a small church in my hometown. A couple of years later, my parents divorced. My dad moved to California and my mom remarried. Then a few years ago I started attending KCC, and since making that change, I have been able to restore my relationship with God.

It breaks my heart to realize the pain I caused the people I love the most, and the disappointment I felt I had become. I want everyone who has accepted Jesus as their Savior to learn, as I have, to not let the world sweep you away, to keep God first, to persevere and never give up.

I decided to be baptized to show that I now live fully free and obedient to Him! The estimated attendance was people. The goal of National Night Out is to enhance the relationship between neighbors and First Responders while bringing back a true sense of community. This event was packed with family friendly activities such as; exploring law enforcement and fire department equipment, climbing on a huge inflatable, face painting by our very own KCC volunteers, meeting local businesses under the vendors tent, enjoying free pizza, sub sandwiches, popcorn, candy and so much more.

One of the highlights of the evening was the arrival and departure of the Aero-Med helicopter. Young and old alike are drawn to the sights and sounds of this awe-inspiring, life-saving equipment.

This enjoyable event provides KCC with an opportunity to serve and interact with our community as we show our appreciation for the men and women who faithfully serve as First Responders in our community. As I arrived to attend the a.

I introduced myself and offered to show her the way to the Worship Center. As we walked I asked her how she heard about KCC. She told me that all of her Go Bus riders talk about how much they love the church and so she decided to check it out for herself. They were inclusive of my new friend with their greeting. This may be a small thing but it did prompt a response from my guest when she noted how friendly everyone was.

As we approached the Worship Center I offered to sit with her. Before we sat down an attender approached us and greeted us warmly with affirming words which brought a huge smile to her face. During the service she decided to go to the altar for prayer. I followed her up and prayed over her. Tears were flowing for both of us as we went back to our seats. Though I have no idea what may be going on in her life, I believe she left the altar with a weight lifted.

Again, she was greeted warmly as she accepted her first time guest gift. It was cool for me to stand to the side and watch our volunteers in action.

Women in Church history have played a variety of roles in the life of Christianity - notably as contemplatives, health care givers, educationalists and missionaries. Until recent times, women were generally excluded from episcopal and clerical positions within the certain Christian churches; however, great numbers of women have been influential in the life of the church, from contemporaries of Jesus to subsequent saints, theologians, doctors of the church , missionaries, abbesses, nuns, mystics, founders of religious institutes , military leaders, monarchs and martyrs. Christianity emerged from within surrounding patriarchal societies that placed men in positions of authority in marriage, society and government, and, whilst the religion restricted membership of the priesthood to males only, in its early centuries it offered women an enhanced social status and quickly found a wide following among women. In most denominations, women have been the majority of church attendees since early in the Christian era and into the present. Women constitute the great majority of members of the consecrated life within the Catholic Church, the largest of the Christian churches. In recent decades, ordination of women has become increasingly common in some Protestant churches.
