Seeking female travel companion

I'm a single 40 yr old female with a serious case of wanderlust and it would be great to meet someone from the UK or abroad to do any of the following with this year:. Short trips to European cities Volunteering in Africa or Asia probably involving kids or animals A road trip across any continent Walking, trekking, sailing or horseriding The list doesn't end there, as I'm open to ideas. If you're somewhere around my age but younger at heart - or maybe you're younger and could tolerate an oldie like me Any takers? I'm living in Germany for the next 2 years and planning to take multiple short trips.

40 yr old UK woman looking for travelling companion(s)

I have traveled solo quite widely and most of the times. I think 2 or 3 months is needed. I hope to find a companion to travel together this time. Is there any other website or forum here that I can hope to find a travel companion? Even travelling with someone you think know well can be fraught, the idea of living with someone you don't know for months sounds horrifying.

If you travel solo, you will make friends along the way and can pick and chose to join forces with someone for a short time, which can be lengthened if you enjoy travelling together. If you really can't face doing that, consider an escorted tour.

At least the people there will have paid up front and there will be some sort of structure for settling disputes. If you plan the trip you want and do the research, you will meet like-minded people along the way.

I had a reservation for a double room in a fairly expensive hotel and welcomed the chance to share the cost. I suspect she may have panicked a bit when the hotel showed us a room with King sized bed I know I did , but I quickly explained that we needed two singles and they moved us to a suitable room.

The hotel was an exercise in 's bad taste it was the mid s with a resident "artist" who painted bespoke fish or seascapes to match people's sofas. It was fun to have someone to giggle about that with. We did different things during the day and met up for dinner. It was very pleasant for that brief period, but it was also nice to drive back to Cairns on my own by the inland route to catch the plane to my next destination with my temporary travel companion happily staying in Port Douglas.

Even that was risky, but neither of us were young, we had exchanged credible information with each other and it was just for a few days. I prefer a companion for the whole trip or at least a good part of it. Having someone new for just a few short days is a pity or a waste of time to me, I think so. Or more neutrally, what if you and your travelling companion turned out to have very different ideas about how you should travel or where to stay?

I enjoyed the short time sharing part of my 5 week trip, but I really like the freedom of solo travel. I go where I want when I want and do what I want. Worldtravel, Are you planning this for and are you male or female?

Find a Travel Partner: Safe Options and Some to Avoid

Aged 19, I was looking for an adventure. I had essentially been halfway around the world and back but as a tourist and not a backpacker. I would say that, for me, this was definitely the case. With all my friends being broke — on account of spending all their cash on dressing up and beer at university — it was hard to find anyone to go with at all. Everybody thought it was a great idea, jumping at the chance to travel the world but when it came down to booking the flights; people bailed. Frustrated and determined to hit the road but not by myself! Essentially, Travel buddy forums are well meaning yet disorganised little websites that are usually badly maintained. These sites can be frustrating but are definitely one of the best places to find likeminded travellers.
